Session after first frosts

Had a short session on the Wey today, very cold. Missed a few bites, very little flow and the river was well down.

Been trying for barbel on Avon and Wey but nothing yet. Not much to report really.

First fish from Langmans!

On the second of a two day trip to Langmans Lake (part of a complex of 4 waters), I landed this nice 7 1/2lb Bream. Langmans is the toughest water with specimen fish like Carp, Pike, Catfish and of course Bream. Its my first fish ever from this Lake and its a resonable size, not the biggest by far but a start none the less. It was taken on homemade boilie with a float ledger rig. You can just make out the "loc-slide" float in the background.

Had our annual two days to kick off the new season in Spring. Dad had loadsa bream, I was going for Tench, but only managed a bream on the first day.

On the second day we fished another lake at the complex, I stuck to my guns and tried for the bream, despite Dad pulling Bream out every few minutes! I was rewarded with a 5lb Tench just as I was thinking of switching to corn.

The Bream was on spicy shrimp and the Tench was on my homemade fishmeal based boilies. I do have a photo but I need to scan it in, however I do now carry a digi cam for fishing!!!

July 2004:- Visited Cobbetts lake Woking for Bream, had a good catch of 3 during last couple of hours of daylight. Picy below.

Caught a nice Chub of around 4 lb. Lost another one as it came to the surface, also lost another just before that but more of a missed bite than a fish really.
Raining on and off but light showers.

Annual holiday 2001 in Dorset:- 2 Barbel to 7 1/2lb and 2 Chub to 5lb in one session; another Chub on a different day.

End of Season 2002/2003 report:- Has been just as good as last year with superb sport from the Stour, 2-3 chub and a 8lb Barbel in a weeks fishing is not too bad! Using breadcrumb, crushed hemp and crushed pellet with a handful of mini pellet was used as groundbait with a few freebie hook baits. The hook bait was curry flavored meat. A session on Papercourt at the end of January was rewarded with a Personnel Best Pike of 18 1/2lb on half Mackerel.

End of Season 2003/2004 report: Fishing local Wey for Chub and Pike, been very slow this year. Had one Barbel from Hampshire Avon in July. Lost a very big Barbel in Aug 03, then tried Wey during winter for Pike without any, Dad got various small jacks.

May/June 2004:- A couple of visits to Wey including evening visit resulted in just small Dace. Had some "close season" visits to lakes for Carp without any.

July Fishing Holiday:- Only small stuff (Chub, Roach, Dace) but a nice Brown Trout on Corn!
